I did a triple take on the title, not wanting to believe it. Was "the fire" the last straw?

Great eulogy David. I'll treasure all the back issues I have for a long time and likely wish I had more of them.

Guy, you can still get back issues, but act fast...

This is the best eulogy I've read or heard. Thanks.

Wow, how sad to see Alpinist go. Like others above, I'm glad that Alpinist has stuck to their ideals, and not sold out to lots of advertising, cheap paper, etc. Nice writing David...Alpinist, you certainly sent it...

I can't believe its gone.

WHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTT?????? Alpinist was not only an inspiration to the people on the 'bottom of the barrel' each issue had pictures and stories that anyone who dared to dream could relate to. Each issue seemingly one-uping the last.... Christian I'm so sorry. Your magazine captured the spirit of alpinism in its finest sense. Seeing those unreal photographs every several months always gave the up and coming a reason for hope. Not only were there stories I could relate to, they made me feel like I could do anything. I will never forget 'Dirtbags vs. The popes men'. Please, if you can, make it so that we can buy back issues!!!!!!
