Not a wedding. A restaurant. On the farm.
On the Farm is the brainchild of chef/mountain guide Eric Henderson, who set out to celebrate food at its freshest, and most local, and then share it with friends.
The inaugural OTF took place on Megan Warren’s Blue Flax Farm on July 24, 2009. The Blue Flax is tucked up next to the hills at the edge of Victor, Idaho.
Hilary Cantu serves dinner. All the ingredients came within 25 miles of Victor.
The main course: elk medallions with chanterelle mushrooms, bacon, and sweet peppers over roasted radishes and kale.
Dinner costs $65 per person or $110 per couple. Considering the quality of the food, the setting, and that beer and wine are included, it’s a hell of a deal.
The wine came from the Cinder Winery in Boise. It went fast. The next On the Farm will be on August 7 (when the Blue Flax’s fava beans, rattail radishes, spring garlic, and holy basil will be featured). There will also be dinners on August 21, and on September 11 and 25. Make reservations at 208-787-1973 or at onthefarminidaho(at)gmail(dot)com.
Eric enthuses after a successful first On The Farm. When I told a friend about the evening, and that much of the food came from the ground a few feet from where we were dining, she said, “Wow, around here? That’s a miracle.” Which it was.

We could not be more proud of what you kids have accomplished. Everynight looks so memorable and magical you should change the name to “Magical Nights On The Farm” I guarantee you this we will not miss next seasons dinners.
Great photos and we are coming over next summer for sure! So happy our wines could be part of this, the food looks soooo good!
