Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra brought out the ‘heads to eastern Idaho’s iconic Spud Drive-In on a summery August evening. Erika Eschholz twirls.

The show even attracted a few people from way out yonder, including this family from Salt Lake City.
Organized by Dom Gagliardi of PoppaPresents, it was the Spud’s first concert. Clint Green surveys the scene.
As a Dead tribute band, Dark Star plays specific set lists from the Grateful Dead’s history, and brought us back to March 26, 1990, the Dead’s third night in a three-night run at Albany, New York’s Knickerbocker Arena.
The show brought out festivarians from various generations.
For a funky little drive-in theater in the far eastern BFE, the show was a spectacle of light and sound. Hard not to be affected by it, especially with meteors streaking through the sky above.
